Our Story

Hot Thespian Action is a Canadian Comedy Award nominated sketch comedy troupe from Winnipeg, Canada. With accomplishments ranging from headlining at the CBC Winnipeg Comedy Festival, to 5 star reviews and a completely sold out run at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, to writing and performing in a commissioned radio play for CBC Radio, Hot Thespian Action continues to entertain audiences with their unique brand of often physical, sometimes musical, always hilarious sketch comedy. Now Hot Thespian Action has set their sights on TV. And with your support, we can finally realize our goal of filming a pilot and spreading our humour far and wide!

 

The Project

Hot Thespian Action wants to come into your family room every week and make you laugh. But until some serious advances are made in cloning, the only feasible way of getting to everyone's houses is through TV. Hot Thespian Action plans on writing and filming a 22-minute pilot to shop around to TV networks. What's a pilot? A pilot is a sample episode that helps the networks see what kind of show they'd get if they were to put up the money to fund a whole series. We want to show them just how awesome an HTA TV show could be. With your help, we can put together the kind of pilot no television executive could possibly refuse. We have the comedy, we just need the money! And that's where you come in.

 

What We Need

TV-making costs money. Lots of it, in fact. And in order to get the interest of the right people to make this pilot happen, we need some serious cheddar to be able to bring to the table. Your donations will eventually go towards paying a crew, renting equipment (lights, mics, dollies, tripods etc), feeding extras, renting/buying costumes, props, sets, locations. And the list goes on... and on.... and on.
